The Football Academy

We’re here to stop you falling through the net.

If you’re talented you need the opportunity to train with top quality coaches and to improve your skills.

"The Football Academy provides young footballers and coaches with the opportunity to develop their skills and showcase their talent. It is our aim to help and support talented young individuals, providing them with the best education, training, football networks and sporting facilities to help them realise their full potential."

Stuart Slater Former West Ham legend and key member of the player and coaching development staff

The Football Academy originally formed in 2011. It’s job is to ensure enthusiastic football players with different levels of ability get to improve their skills and overall game. Our full-time education programme and Football Academy will help you realise your full potential.

"The Coaches helped me develop massively as a player – mentally, technically and physically. They gave me a professional mindset on and off the field and that has really helped me achieve success out here in the States. The Academy’s success in developing players for senior football is clear to see as half the team I played with are now playing a high level of first team football for various clubs."

Michael Shaikly Former Football Academy Student

Players are selected through a series of football sessions and will have a choice of studying the following qualifications alongside your training and matches:

Players’ College courses are tailored so you can attend football training on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and play matches every Wednesday afternoon during the football season. Those players who really excel may have the opportunity to train with Billericay Town U23s, First Team or a number of professional clubs who we have excellent relationships with.

Player’s will make their own way to training at Billericay Town FC for a 9.30am start, for those who live to the North and East of Chelmsford can access the college minibus at 8.45am (meet at the college sports hall) which will get to Billericay Town FC in time to start. A 70 seater free bus is available after training to bring everyone back to college after training in time for lessons, players can then make their own way home from college.

The Football Academy also has many contacts that can help you gain a soccer scholarship in the USA after completing your course, and they’ll provide professional support and have a wealth of knowledge to access to a wide network of universities – see our website for details.

Apprenticeships Once you have successfully completed your studies over one or two years, there are opportunities to progress into one of our 16 apprenticeship programmes. For further information, please contact David Cornwell at Chelmsford College.
