During the 2015 Autumn Term both Dovedale Nursery and Chelmsford College were inspected by Ofsted under the Common Inspection Framework.
We were delighted that the Ofsted Early Years Inspection which took place in October 2015 judged the Nursery to be Outstanding in all categories and that the existing Ofsted Outstanding grade was maintained. The report recognised the outstanding quality of teaching as well as the well-organised, rich and varied learning environment which is well equipped with an abundant range of resources. In addition, the report praised the managers and staff as being inspirational and planning daily activities and experiences to extend children's learning in all areas.
The November 2015 Ofsted Inspection recognised the many strengths that the College has. The report graded the College as 'good' in the growing areas of Adult Learning, Apprenticeships and in the Provision for Learners with special and high needs. In addition the inspectors found many more strengths within practical subject areas such as Hospitality and Catering, Carpentry and Joinery and Hair and Beauty. Moreover, Inspectors found that learners benefitted from the high quality educational facilities and resources available to them as well as good and productive links with employers, the local enterprise partnership and other local and regional stakeholders. The College was particularly pleased with the Ofsted Inspector's judgement that "Learners feel safe; they value the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere of the college and the culture of tolerance and respect" and that the student's behaviour in and around College is good.
