Teaching staff at Chelmsford College were encouraged to think differently about their work recently. Leading educationalist Dan Beale visited the College to deliver bespoke training across the entire curriculum team as they aim for the ultimate in teaching at a consistently outstanding level.
The professional development session revealed techniques to further inspire, challenge and engage students and included aspects of psychology and learning behavior patterns. Brain teasers, asking the best kind of questions and embedding English and Maths were woven into the workshop which focused on tools and activities to support higher order thinking.
Tutors examined every aspect of their teaching methods which could have an impact on students. Room layout, group dynamics and assessment techniques were analysed to uncover which factors support creativity in learning.
Dan Beale has over 13 years’ experience in education and specializes in mentoring tutors and teacher training. He was invited to share best practice at Chelmsford College as part of an ongoing continued professional development programme.
