He’s also organised, planned and instructed residential trips to the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Jim has taught hundreds of students the value of outdoor education and helped them develop confidence in their own ability to succeed in whatever they put their mind to.
On receiving his Award, Jim said:
"I know this is an honorary award but it genuinely is an honour. A lot of hard work goes into these trips so it’s nice to have recognition for that. It’s a great experience for outdoor education and in a way it feels like I’ve been awarded twice. Not only did I receive this but we also get to see how the students benefit from the trips which is just as rewarding."
