BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

Is this course for me?

The aims of the course are to learn how to set up a supply chair, to learn how to communicate with customers, opportunity to work closely with a business, to gain experience dealing with real business issues to give learners the opportunity to plan, set up and run their own business through a structured programme of learning.

The course requires students to run their own business and assessment will be through both practical and written tasks. An office area will be provided for students and business dress is to be worn. Student will participate in the Peter Jones Academy Challenges throughout the course and will graduate as part of the Peter Jones Academy.

Study Overview

Mandatory Units:

There are eight mandatory units, four internal and four external. Learners must complete and achieve at Pass grade or above for all these units in group A and at least two from group B.

Group A:

  • Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign
  • Unit 3 Business and Personal Finance
  • Unit 6 Business Decision Making
  • Unit 12 Principles of Management
  • Unit 13 Developing an Enterprise Strategy

Group B:

  • Unit 1 Enterprise and Entrepreneurs
  • Unit 4 Launch and Run an Enterprise
  • Unit 5 Survival and Growth

Optional Units:

  • Unit 8 Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship in Practice
  • Unit 9 Innovation and Enterprises
  • Unit 10 Recruitment and Selection Processes
  • Unit 11 Marketing Communications

Maths and English - Take it Seriously!

At Chelmsford College we are dedicated to helping all our learners achieve their ambitions and we acknowledge that in order to do well, some of our learners may need extra support in maths and/or English.

We provide specialist teaching as a compulsory part of the study programme for all learners who have not achieved a grade C at GCSE in these subjects and we all take maths and English seriously.

4 GCSEs grade C or above or a pass grade at a relevant level 2 vocational course.

Specific Entry Requirements:

GCSE English or Maths at Grade C or above. It is preferable that either IT or Business Studies should have been studied at GCSE level.

The course is assessed through practical experience, coursework and external assessments.
